The story behind the work…
In our first partnership with Solidarity Bridge, we traveled with a team of doctors from Stanford Medicine and Harvard’s Bridgham and Women’s Hospital to Itauguá, Paraguay in September 2025.
The doctors were there to perform operations to remove arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) from the brain of a handful of patients. Regarded as one of the most complex neurosurgeries to perform, these doctors volunteer their time to travel to Paraguay and work with the local medical team to provide care these patients otherwise would have trouble receiving.
Solidarity Bridge’s mission is to increase access to safe, affordable surgery and other essential health care. There was a strong emphasis in ensuring the local medical team was learning as much as they could during the procedures, since the ultimate goal is for these communities to eventually become self-supported by their own medical staff.
It was motivating to step into this world of neurosurgery in Paraguay. The level of care, dedication, and compassion exhibited by the medical team from the United States was inspiring; the eagerness to learn the local Paraguayan team had sparks confidence in the continued growth of medical care in the country.
We are now in post-production on two short films for Solidarity Bridge, with both premiering at their annual gala dinner in Chicago in April 2026.
