The story behind the work…

Epilepsy effects 65 million people worldwide. 80% of individuals with epilepsy live in low- and middle-income countries.

ROW Foundation is a Chicago-based NGO, existing to improve the lives of people living with epilepsy in under-resourced areas around the world. With 80% of global epilepsy patients living in low- and middle-income countries, ROW Foundation brings medication to patients who otherwise would remain untreated. Their global partners assist in local education programs, helping to destigmatize epilepsy and ensure patients receive requisite care. With epilepsy often viewed as a demonic possession and those who deal with it often taken advantage of because of their condition, ROW’s efforts have helped transform lives.

Our job at Not Paper Productions was to help tell the stories of those impacted by ROW Foundation’s work, simultaneously transforming their video storytelling for educational, marketing, and fundraising purposes.

Before hiring Not Paper Productions, ROW Foundation relied on video footage to be sent to them from their partners around the world. While they captured the most important part - the story of those impacted by ROW’s work - they lacked the professionalism required to create the desired impact.

ROW Foundation’s leadership expressed their motivation to change this, to take control of the creative process and be ensure these stories, which have been silenced for so long, are told properly.
